Singapore gambling is not far away after Malaysia's Genting began opening their Resorts World Sentosa this week. The casino project is expected to bring millions into the economy in Singapore.
>Singapore will soon become the latest country to add casino gambling to their list of tourist attractions. The first stages of Resorts World Sentosa were opened this week by Genting, a gaming developer based in Malaysia.
The first openings at the resort were 1,340 hotel rooms that spanned four different hotels. The hotels are highlighted by a Hard Rock hotel, but that is just one of what will be many attractions at the resort.
In addition to the Hard Rock, Resorts World Sentosa will also have a 7,300 seat ballroom. The ballroom is set to be on display in late January when it hosts its first event. The total price of the project is estimated at $5 billion.
"There is no doubt that the casino gambling industry in Asia is growing at a rapid rate," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz, "First it was Macau, and now Singapore is going after some of the high roller gambling money that is coming out of China."
Macau has become the casino gambling capital of the world. Many of the that used to travel from China to the US are now finding it easier to stay in Asia and take the short trip to Macau's .
In Macau, the gamblers can enjoy the same type of casinos found in Las . Several of the Vegas-based developers have build resorts in Macau, and are also planning on making a move into the Singapore gambling market.
